Description

Elliott Metcalf was a long-time sportswriter in Tacoma and was considered to be one of the top writers in the area as he wrote during a time that has been called the “golden age” of sports. He became a sportswriter of the Tacoma News Tribune and often covered local sports, including Pacific Lutheran College's football during the 1930s and early 1940s. He was well known for his sports column, which was called “On the Lam” and ran in the TNT. Metcalf was a member of the original Tacoma Athletic Commission back in the 1940s. He was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame in 1966 for his sportswriting.
