Cheney Studs basketball team in uniform poses for a portrait. Pictured are, back row: L-R. Bob Fincham, Ron Button, Ernie Endress, Chuck Gilmur, Al Maul. Front row: Norm Willis, Tom Cross, Jack Johnson. The Cheney Studs were created by Tacoma legend Ben Cheney who wanted to create a competitive AAU team while also providing a platform for college players to showcase their skills during the off-season. Many of the players who were a part of the Studs went on to become some of the top coaches and referees in the history of the state of Washington.
