Description

A black and white photograph with a wide shot of the crowd watching on at the Fircrest Tacoma Open at the Fircrest Golf Club. The course was built in 1923 by architect Arthur Vernon Macan, an Irish emigrant who came to the Northwest when he immigrated to Victoria in 1912. Macan designed many courses in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. The Tacoma Open was a short-lived professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour that took place in 1945 and 1948.
