Earl Anthony, a nationally known pro bowler from Tacoma, releases a shot in this photo taken by Tacoma News Tribune's Bruce Kellman in 1971. The left-handed Anthony was a regular competitor on TV's national broadcasts of national PBA tournaments in the 1970s and 1980s. He won 41 national tour titles and eight major tournament titles, more than another pro bowler in history. He reached the top five championship round in an all-time best 144 tournaments. In 1982, he became the first bowler to pass 41 million dollars in PBA winnings. He was the PBA Player of the Year six times.Lexicon
