Description

Vic Martineau stands in front of a one-story house in his baseball uniform in a black and white photo. Martineau graduated from Bellarmine Prep in 1942 and went on to play at the College of Puget Sound (University of Puget Sound) in both baseball and football. His career was interrupted by World War II, but he returned to Puget Sound in 1946. Martineau signed on to play for the House of David barnstorming tour team, which played about 75 games, traveling by bus from town to town. The team played everywhere from Mississippi and Iowa to Nebraska, Canada, Mexico and against the Kansas City Monarchs with Satchel Paige on the mound. Martineau pitched and played in the outfield for the House of David. He then went on to play in the Western International League for the Tacoma Tigers. Photo donated by Vic Martineau. Written on back in pencil: "I am playing for the House of David, I am pitching. I won 3 out of 10 games so that ain't bad Vic Martineau."
