Description

Norm Mayer began a legendary coaching career at Lincoln High School in 1945 and coached there for 23 years, compiling an impressive 140-50-6. He's only one of 12 football coaches in Pierce County to win at least 100 games. Mayer began his coaching/teaching career at Grandview, Wash., and then went to Pe El High School where his basketball team finished second for the southwest championship. He then returned to the College of Puget Sound where he played college football to become the head basketball and assistant football coach there. He then went to Stadium High School where he coached track for two years before coming to Lincoln in 1945.
