Poem Shelburne On the MapEntry/Object ID
2023.00.215Scope and Content
This poem was discovered in our collection without an author or specific date reference. It is on original typewritten on paper as you can see the light perforations of the period on the back of the paper.Context
This poem has no author or specific date. We can surmise from the content that the time period is about 1870-1880's. The author speaks about farming, businesses other than farming, a story about tea being sold at the local store, and Shelburne Harbor, specific steamboats, their schedules and captains. There are three pages and it seems that there were originally more as the ending is quite abrupt. This may have been originally handwritten and this item being a copy of it.Lexicon
