Shelburne U.S. Bicentennial Celebration Tree Planting 24 April 1976. At the 1976 town meeting, citizens approved a $5,000 ballot item to purchase trees for the Parade Ground and library green. Volunteers planted the trees. Citizens who showed up to work at 9:00 AM Saturday included selectmen, members of the bicentennial committee, Jaycees, Methodist youth, and garden clubs. Garden Club members treated workers to lunch at the Methodist Church.
