Description

Baby's bonnet, handknit in an off-white wool yarn [possibly originally light pink], combined with a shiny, off-white rayon thread, on fine needles. Cap shape, knitted in stockinette stitch, formed from a flat rectangle. Triangular garter stitch and open work motifs at each corner and top centre front of face edge. Garter stitch border around face edge has been turned to right side and invisibly caught down to form hem. Neck edge has narrow hem. Cap shape achieved by folding rectangle in half and sewing part-way along one short end; remainder of stitches have had the yarn threaded through them and pulled tightly to create a circular crown. Ivory rayon satin ribbon length forms bow and tie at each corner. Ties different length.
