Bead Plane; MouldingEntry/Object ID
1976.071.496Description
Wooden moulding plane (made of bead moulding). Stock and wedge of unknown hardwood - iron of unknown metal possibly cast steel. Base of plane is shaped. The base has a piece of hardwood - probably Boxwood or Lignum Vitae set into it which runs the full length of the plane. These woods are closer grained and probably would stand up to wear better in the areas of the plane base which would cut a deep groove.Acquisition
