Metal chisel--probably cast steel--very heavy. handle end is round and hollow.
Wide cutting edge--this wide a chisel was known as a slick. One side is flat, the other beveled off at edges and shaped to neck and circular where handle would be inserted. Probably a boatbuilders slick (due to size). "A long, broad, chisel about 30 cm in overall with a blade up to 3.5 inches wide. More common in the U.S.A. than in Britain, it is used for cleaning up the sides of large mortices in construction work, and for levelling surfaces. The top of the handle is often swollen for pushing form the shoulder." p. 144 Dictionary of Tools. R.A. SALAMAN.Acquisition
