1975. .228 a-bDescription
Two purificators [used to wipe rim of chalice during the Eucharist] made from handwoven linen, rectangular shape; fabric has been hand hemmed. Fabric has been handwoven in an intricate design which incorporates variations on twill weave forming an all-over pattern of diagonal lines and small diamonds. On both of these small rectangular cloths one end has a hem approx. 2 cm deep and centered near this hem is a small cross motif. These designs have been executed in red stranded cotton in chain stitch. Two different types of crosses. One is a Latin Cross, the other a stylized Budded Cross. [20250327 Jones, I. The problem with these purificators is that both are marked as "b"].Acquisition
