Travelling clothes brush a) and fabric case b), perhaps a souvenir; perhaps Chinese or Japanese origin. One side of handle has freehand brown-painted [or possibly lightly-burned] drawing of iris, bird and tree, with flange similarly decorated with geometric border patterns. The other side has a drawing which features a woman in an elaborate headdress, a bald man, possibily another figure, possibly on a terrace, with trees in background and some other unclear geographic feature, and geometric border on flange. B) cloth case, made in one piece, of loosely-woven, stiff, vegetable fibre. Front has finely-cross stitched picture of a yellow/dark blue sedan chair, with occupant, being carried by two bearers in light blue/dark blue clothes. Sides sewn with spaced, small cross stitches. Flap, with long, pointed tab which slips through fabric keeper.Acquisition
