Description

017.054.005 a-b Lady’s casual full-length coat and matching wrap-around skirt, made of double-weave fabric, so that both are reversible. One side is sand-coloured twill weave, the reverse is a large plaid in sand and ivory. On this side, the sand colour appears a little darker and the surface has been lightly brushed, to have a softer feel. Coat has “peter pan” type collar. Collar, front edges and lower edges bound with sand wool military braid. Sand side front closed with three military braid frogs buttoning onto three buttons either side. Plaid side closes using loop of the three frogs and buttons on the underlap and, on the overlap, three thread loops/buttons. Neck button/loop on each coat side. The six buttons on both coat sides are placed directly over each other and the hand-applied rounded patch pockets are similarly placed. Left pocket plaid side has woven label: “WETHERALL/bond st. sportsclothes [sic]/MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN”. Plaid pockets lined with ivory rayon woven with a scattered tiny “W” for “Wetherall”. b) Skirt has eight waistline darts. All edges bound with sand military braid. On sand side the overlap closes with three military braid loops/buttons and similarly for the plaid side, except that the two lower buttons on the plaid side have been removed.
