BROMYARD MEDALLION
Circular bronze medallion with antiqued matte finish. Integral hanging loop. Central, circular element, with a slightly-domed resin overlay depicts a brass town crier’s bell on a dark red background, with gold “19” on the [viewer’s] left of bell handle and “98” to the right. Circular border reads, in gold, on a dark blue background: “EUROPEAN TOWN CRIERS CHAMPIONSHIP” and in the lower area of the border, in gold, on a white background: “BROMYARD” [a town in Herefordshire, England]. The outer rim of the medallion has been cut with 20 angled, bevelled cuts, to exposed bright brass/bronze metal and a similar rim with 20 cuts surrounds the central element. Between the two borders is a recessed area with moulded relief decoration. This moulded area is twelve-sided and has alternating swags of oak leaves and laurel leaves. Reverse has matte finish with recessed finely-beaded border and central area having a very fine “cloth” texture. Bronze bail through hanging loop. Medium-wide corded ribbon, possibly silk, in three equal stripes of yellow-medium green-yellow, through bail.Acquisition
