Description

a) Gold-coloured metal compact, in the shape of a slightly stretched scallop shell. Hinged lid; thumb catch. Brushed finish on bottom. Lid has brushed background finish, with “stencilled” bright finish classic design of a twining, leafing vine along each side of lid, joining at thumb catch area to form a circular leafed outline medallion, with two very stylized honeysuckle flowers forming the centre top of the medallion. Inside lid fitted with mirror shaped to contours. Bottom has powder reservoir, shaped to contours, with depressed lid opened with a thumb catch. Lid has moulded all-over design of vertical columns of lines-and-diagonals, with a central oval cartouche stamped: ``American Beauty Made in Canada``. B) Thin, flesh-coloured, plush applicator for powder sits in lid depression. Stamped in gold on top of applicator, now nearly unreadable, is ``American Beauty/by Elgin American``. c) Burgundy cotton flannel, square shaped storage pouch, with flap. Sewn together and raw edges serged with matching rayon thread.
