Description

a) Cast aluminium grinder body of SPONG meat grinder. b) Base of grinder. Yellow enamelled metal moulded in two parts. Top front side reads: “SPONG & CO LTD/ BASILDON ESSEX”. Black knob below this screws tight to attach main portion of grinder to base. Top of backside reads: “PATENT NO 850035/ MADE IN ENGLAND”. Gold and black logo decal applied to front of base reads: “SPONG [in oval]/ TRADE MARK”. Lever with round black plastic knob with seam around middle on end of lever. One side of lever stamped with “LOCK”, the other with “RELEASE”. Uses grey suction cup to attach to smooth surfaces [“such as Formica”]. c) Cast aluminium body for slicer and grater attachment. One side reads: “SPONG/ &CoLTD/ LONDON//MADE IN ENGLAND” in raised lettering. Other side reads: “730//VERSATILE/ SLICER &/ GRATER” in raised lettering. d) Cylindrical aluminium slicer. e) Cylindrical aluminium grater. f) Turned, cylindrical wooden pusher, with integral flat-topped knob, for pressing food down into slicer/grater without cutting fingers. Small metal peg sticks out of one side of pusher to prevent thing from being pushed down too far and getting cut by slicer/grater. Something about curved shape of top. g) Cast aluminum auger. Lathed ends. h) Handle. Cast metal shaft with rotating wooden handle approximately perpendicular to shaft. “5” stamped into top inner side of shaft. Triangular attachment hole with squared corners. Attaches to grinder auger. i) Handle. Cast metal shaft with rotating wooden handle approximately perpendicular to shaft. “5” stamped into metal near rectangular attachment hole with rounded ends. Attaches to slicer/grater. j) Flanged, triangular, eye bolt. Attaches handle to auger. k) Wingnut. Cat-ear shaped wings. Attaches cutters to auger. l) Stationary cutter. m) Coarse cutter. n) Medium cutter. o) Fine cutter. p) Wingnut. Cat-ear shaped wings. Attaches cutters to auger. q) Instruction sheet. Orange instruction sheet folded in half along left side. Front has stylized image of main body of a grinder, and reads: “SPONG/ 701/ MINCER” in black centered in bottom half of front. Assembly, use, and care instructions inside. Back [originally] white, reads: “[thick black horizontal line]/ MADE IN ENGLAND/ SPONG [in oval]/ SPONG & CO LTD/ CROMPTON CLOSE/ BASILDON ESSEX/ [thin black horizontal line]/ BASILDON 3341[/]2[/]3/[thick black horizontal line]”. r) Promotional pamphlet promoting other SPONG products s) Pamphlet. How to assemble, use, and maintain SPONG Versatile slicer/shredder/grater.
