Description

Ginger jar (a). Black with brown vine and butterfly design. Rounded lathed wooden lid (b), sides flare out at top. Inside painted red. Cap fits between lid and container like plug (c). ‘dish-like’ inside top of cap painted red. Outside painted black. Also appears to be lathed wood. Container has black lip, possibly made separately and attached. Body of container is lathed in two parts [top and bottom] and joined. Has wide shoulders, and curves downward towards base. Outside painted black with brown butterflies and vines, inside painted grey.
