Ladies Pantaloons of even weave white cotton; fabric is quite strong. Legs are made in two pieces, are only joined together. Triangular gussets in under leg area. Fabric gathered onto waistband. Machine stitching and some hand stitching. Fabric of legs has been tucked up by hand to shorten it (some machine stitching on one side). At bottom on either side there are seven rows of tucks approx. 1 cm deep, embroidered cut work border 7.5 cm deep. Bottom five rows of tucks are machine sewn, top two rows are hand stitched (probably also to shorten length). Twill tape ties at back. Embroidered border has repetitive design with Satin Stitch and overcasting in white stranded embroidery cotton. Fabric at hem, which has been embroidered, is finer and of lighter weight. Fabric still stiff after washing to remove starch
