Description

White cotton peticoat - half slip (waist down) of white evenweave cotton fabric - quite fine. A-line design. Deep waistband with placket opening at center front or center back. Placket fastens closed at waistband with one fabric-covered button and hand-worked button hole and a small area with casing and twill tape ties which allows for some adjustment of waistband width. Fabric below waistband is gathered with small gathers onto waistband. Some inside seams have been neatened by hand using whipstitch over cut edge of fabric. Skirt constructed with four gores. Approx. 1/2 way down length of skirt two tucks have been made in the fabric (machine sewn). Below these another tuck has been added - probably to shorten the length, this is tucked up wit long running stitches. At bottom of skirt narrow tucks (5) have been machine stitched. A border of eyelet embroidery with scalloped edge has been attached; this is also slightly gathered, bottom is embroidered with scalloped edge and repetitious floral design. Embroidered with white embroidery thread.
