A large, square silk "throw" [shawl or piano shawl] with puckered, rounded corners. Cream coloured background, covered with Japanese embroidery which may be hand done--it is almost as perfect on the back as on the front. There are Japanese ladies and men, birds, butterflies, pagodas and many kinds of flowers, in corals, pinks, ivory, blues, purples, pastels . Hand-sewn around this centrepiece is a 3.5 inch border of what appears to be very fine macrame knotting which ends in a 15 inch fringe, all done in cream coloured thread.Acquisition
