Description

Slightly rusted Postal scale, balance bar type, navy blue platform and housing and frame, chrome-plated [?] balance bar. Scale calibrated in 1/2 ounce increments to a maximum 16 ounces [1 pound]. Printed paper postal rates chart in front frame, gives rates for local, first class, foreign, Canada air mail, USA air mail, printed matter and surface parcel post. [The rate for a local 1-ounce letter is 4 cents]. A hole in the end of the support for the balance beam is marked "To/Balance//Turn Screw". Stamped on front of platform support reads: "Triner/Air Mail/Accuracy/Scale" in white. On the side of the platform support is stamped in white: "Triner/Scale & Mfg. Co./Chicago, Ill./ Patents Pending". Back of scale says "Triner/Air Mail/Accuracy/Scale" above are remnants of a label with an “S” on the label that is barely legible [possibly for Sun Life]. Small metal label under scale in back says “ER/2G 3T”
