Mechanical, dial postal scale.
Beige matte enameled finished on chassis and dial. Rectangular brushed aluminum weighing surface mounted on weighing mechanism at front area of chassis. Large, modified triangular-shaped dial mounted at rear. Levelling device in front left side area of dial. Upper scale of dial is graduated in one-gram units from 0 to 1 kilogram. Below this scale are 15 other scales, in English and French, for measuring weight/postage for U.S.A., International and Canadian destinations for letters or parcels, by ground, air or surface mail. Indicator arm also marked off in sections to align with dial scales. Further information for use printed below scale area, in English and French and below this, a title block: "Postal Scale/Balance Postale /En Vigeur//Effective 01JAN93". Front area of dial housing has an adhesive aluminum label with the logo of "Pitney Bowes" and an area titled: "Canada/Approved" In this area are stamped-in numbers "89" and "6" , as well as a stamped-in representation of a scale dial with "76" inside it and a printed number "109". Overlaid on this label is a second aluminum label printed "CAP 1kg SWA 109/MOD.//P.C. 0141 SER./Pitney Bowes Toronto, Ont." This label obscures some information on the first label but visible is "NTO, ONT. Made in U.S.A., with "47909" stamped in above this information. Below these labels on the dial housing are two inspection decals, the upper one, circular, printed with the Government of Canada logo and "Consumer and/Corporate/Affairs//Consummation/et/Corporations"//"Weights and Measures//Poids et Mesures/Canada" . The initials "JS" are written in ballpoint below. The upper area of this decal has the years from "77" to "84". "78" is punched out/ The months appear at the bottom of the sticker and none is punched. The second, lower, decal is rectangular, printed with the same government information and the title blocks "VERIFIED/?VERIFIE" and "Inspector No./No. de l'inspecteur" [written in ballpoint is "0665" and the initials "??C" . Months ["6" punched] and years from "76" [punched] to "87" .Acquisition
