Description

Heavy black enameled cast metal scale. Pans surmount balance beam. One pan flat, other concave. Black enameled weight hangs from scale bar, not detachable, no marks on weight to indicate mass. Brass scale bar has measurements stamped over different writing which had been stamped into scale bar. Measures pounds, ounces, and fifth of an ounce. Every ounce measurement is marked with an X or C alternating. Ounces are numbered one through fifteen twice, and one and two. Bottom of scale bar reads: “FYFE SCALE CO MONTREAL”, and “29553” – possibly a serial number. Base of scale reads “CANADA” off centered.
