Trunk (described in records as a steamer trunk) of wood, metal, and leather construction. Leather appears to be attached to outside surface. Black metal sheeting at rims and corners. Decorative metal fixtures on joints, corners, etc. appear to have originally been gold colour. Wood unknown, possibly softwood, light golden colour with varnish-type finish remaining in parts. Main structure is wood, also the decorative outer ribs are wood. Top of trunk is domed. Lock of type that takes a key, also fastens that snap over the lid attachments hold the trunk closed. Nail heads are visible and serve a decorative purpose. Outer leather is lightly tooled and stained dark with geometric designs. Inside, the trunk is partitioned with a 'top shelf' that fits into the base and a compartment in the area under the domed lid. These compartments are wood covered with paper with bright boarders in floral designs (red, blue, and yellow). Two pastoral pictures are in the center of the lid partition areas. Mark on lock: Pat.
