Scope and Content

Nickel pistol with pearl handle with brown screw. Item used by Mamie Weathersby the first paymaster of John Henry Kirby's Mill in Silsbee, Texas. The pistol ws used to guard the cash payroll when Weathersby delivered it by buggy form 1894-? She was the great grandmother of the current owner and wife of Fred Weathersby for whom Fred, Texas was named. The pistol is in very good condition for its age. There is expected Wear and one small rust spot on the barrel. The pearl handle has a brown substance stuck to it in on location. The firing mechanism is stouck in a semi-cocked position. On the butt of the handle is inscribed 111162. Above the body of the pistol is inscribed "H & R Double Action" on both sides. The barrel is inscribed "H & R Arms Company, Worchestor, Mass USA and below that is inscribed "38S&W.CTGE
