This poster is a tribute to the AMC Matador’s brief but memorable moment of NASCAR glory, centering on the red‑white‑blue No. 16 Penske Matador that won the 1973 NASCAR season opener at Riverside. The artist layers the car over a backdrop of period newspaper clippings and headlines from Competition Press & Autoweek, celebrating the Matador’s surprise success and its positioning as AMC’s aggressively styled 1974 model. The composition blends motorsport history with slogans like “Look out NASCAR – it’s here!” and “Matador Captures NASCAR Opener” evoke the underdog narrative of a smaller manufacturer taking on Detroit’s giants.Collection
