Rick Bell was an American road‑racing driver active mainly in the 1970s and early 1980s. Born in 1949, he competed in IMSA GT, Trans‑Am, and endurance events, driving cars such as the Porsche 911, Chevrolet Monza, and various GT‑class machines. Bell was best known for his long association with the Monza program and for being a steady, reliable competitor in IMSA’s GT ranks. His strongest results came in the mid‑1970s, including several top‑five finishes and consistent runs in long‑distance races, where his smooth driving style helped preserve equipment.
Bell’s career had both successes and setbacks. He was respected for consistency and mechanical sympathy, but he never broke through to major international victories. Mechanical failures and the intense competition of IMSA’s GT era often limited his results. Rick Bell died in 1988 at the age of 39. He is remembered as a capable and dedicated American sports‑car driver who contributed to one of IMSA’s most competitive periods.Collection
