Mike Beuttler was born April 13, 1940, in Cairo, Egypt, and became a British Formula One privateer during the early 1970s. He advanced through Formula 3 and Formula 2 before entering Formula One in 1971 with the Clarke‑Mordaunt‑Guthrie Racing syndicate, a team funded by his London stockbroker friends. He drove non‑works March‑Ford cars in 29 World Championship Grands Prix, starting 28 of them between 1971 and 1973. His best finish was seventh in the 1973 Spanish Grand Prix, and although he scored no championship points under the scoring system of the time, he recorded six top‑ten finishes that would have earned points under modern rules.
Beuttler’s career ended after the 1973 oil crisis caused his financial backers to withdraw support. He retired from racing in 1974 and later moved to the United States. Beuttler died in Los Angeles on December 29, 1988, at age 48.Collection
