Geoff Bodine is one of the most successful and versatile American stock‑car drivers of his era, with a career that spanned Modifieds, NASCAR Cup, the Busch Series, and the Truck Series. Born April 18, 1949, in Chemung, New York, he grew up at the Chemung Speedrome, which his father and grandfather built, and began racing at age five. Before reaching NASCAR’s top level, he became a dominant force in Northeastern Modified racing, earning multiple track championships and even setting a Guinness World Record for 55 Modified wins in a single season. In the NASCAR Cup Series, Bodine competed in 575 races over 27 years, winning 18 times, including the 1986 Daytona 500, and finishing a career‑best third in points in 1990.
Bodine’s career extended across nearly every major NASCAR division. He earned 6 Busch Series wins and 9 top‑tens in the Truck Series, and he was named 1982 Cup Rookie of the Year. He drove for top teams, including Hendrick Motorsports—scoring the organization’s first-ever Cup win in 1984—and later became known for his technical input and mechanical understanding. After surviving a violent 2000 Truck Series crash at Daytona, he shifted toward bobsled design, co‑founding the Bo‑Dyn Bobsled Project, which helped the U.S. Olympic team win gold. Today, Bodine is recognized as one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers, a testament to his longevity, adaptability, and impact on American motorsport.Collection
