Scope and Content

This is the McLaren M8B, a legendary Can-Am race car driven by Bruce McLaren during the 1969 season. Painted in iconic papaya orange and sponsored by Gulf Oil and Reynolds Aluminum, the M8B featured a high-mounted rear wing and a powerful Chevrolet V8 engine producing over 680 horsepower. It was an evolution of the M8A, designed for maximum downforce and agility under Can-Am’s minimal regulations. Bruce McLaren and teammate Denny Hulme dominated the season, winning all 11 races between them, with McLaren himself taking multiple victories including a narrow win at Road America. The M8B not only cemented McLaren’s reputation as a top constructor but also became one of the most successful and recognizable cars in Can-Am history.
