Jeb Allen was born in 1954 in Bellflower, California, and is still alive as of 2025. He rose to fame as a teenage drag racing prodigy, becoming the youngest licensed Top Fuel driver at age 17 and the youngest professional-class winner in NHRA history at 18.
Allen’s career was marked by both dazzling success and personal struggle. He won Top Fuel championships in all three major sanctioning bodies: AHRA (1977), IHRA (1980), and NHRA (1981), the latter making him the youngest NHRA world champion at 27 years and four months—a record that stood until 2018. However, his trajectory was interrupted by a serious accident at the 1973 AHRA Nationals and later derailed by substance abuse issues, leading to his retirement in 1982Drag Racing's Golden Era+1. After leaving racing, Allen reinvented himself as a successful home builder in Redding, California, overcoming alcoholism and rebuilding his life with remarkable resilience.
