Scope and Content

This poster for the 1997 Mille Miglia depicts three of the most successful Mercedes Benz race cars to participate in the race over the years. Each car depicted has won the Mille Miglia. From front to back are the 300 (W 194) SL Rennsportwagen, which won in 1952, the 300 SLR, which won in 1955, and SSKL ("Super-Sport-Kurz-Leicht"), which was the winner in 1931. Each of these cars represents the German manufacturer's ability to create innovative, reliable, dominant race cars year after year, with the Mille Miglia being the consistently being the perfect setting for them to prove that Mercedes Benz will always be ahead of the curve in their blueprints, and ahead of the competition out on the blacktop.
