Description

This Mercedes dashboard plate was used in the 1916–1925 vehicles to manually adjust fuel mixture and ignition timing, likely on prewar touring or racing models. The German terms on the plate translate as follows: GEMISCH = Mixture (refers to air-fuel ratio) langsam = slow (richer mixture) schnell = fast (leaner mixture) ZÜNDUNG = Ignition spät = late (retarded timing) früh = early (advanced timing) This plate would have been mounted near the driver or mechanic’s station to allow manual tuning of engine performance based on driving conditions.
