This is a 1983 promotional poster for Rick Mears and the Penske Racing / Pennzoil IndyCar program, created to publicize both the driver and the full 1983 PPG Indy Car World Series schedule. The central image features Mears’ bright‑yellow Pennzoil‑sponsored Penske PC‑11/PC‑12, carrying the number 1, which he used as the reigning 1982 CART champion. The stylized grid background and bold typography are classic early‑1980s graphic design. The schedule printed below—listing Phoenix, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Road America, Pocono, Riverside, Laguna Seca, and others—confirms the poster’s purpose as a fan‑oriented season guide. The piece dates firmly to early 1983, produced ahead of the season to promote Mears’ title defense and Pennzoil’s high‑visibility sponsorship.Collection
