The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) was founded in 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts by a group of automobile enthusiasts, many of whom had previously been involved with the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA), created by brothers Miles and Sam Collier in 1933. After ARCA dissolved during World War II, these enthusiasts regrouped to form the SCCA, initially as a social club for sports car owners rather than a racing organization. Over time, however, the club evolved into a major sanctioning body for motorsports in the United States, organizing events that ranged from amateur competitions to professional racing series.
Today, the SCCA functions as the largest amateur motorsports organization in the United States, headquartered in Topeka, Kansas. It oversees a wide variety of disciplines including autocross, rallycross, road racing, hill climbs, and time trials, providing opportunities for drivers of all skill levels to participate. The club also plays a key role in developing motorsport talent, offering structured programs and national championships, while fostering a strong community of car enthusiasts. With tens of thousands of members across divisions, the SCCA continues to be a cornerstone of American motorsport culture.Collection
