This badge is from a Stutz Pak-Age-Car, which were produced from 1926 to 1941, and Stutz owned and distributed them from 1932 to 1938.
Originally developed in 1925 as the Pac-Kar prototype, the Pak-Age-Car was a compact, walk-in delivery van designed to replace horse-drawn wagons for urban deliveries. Production began in 1926 under the Mechanical Manufacturing Company of Chicago, and by 1927, Stutz began distributing them through its dealer network. In 1932, the struggling Stutz Motor Company acquired the Pak-Age-Car operation outright, hoping the commercial vehicle line would stabilize its finances. These vans featured a narrow cab with no seat, allowing the driver to stand and exit quickly from either side—ideal for frequent stops. They were powered by modular Hercules engines and often used for perishable deliveries, though their lack of mechanical cooling and exposure to melting ice led to rapid internal rusting. After Stutz’s bankruptcy in 1938, Auburn Central Company took over production until 1941, when wartime priorities ended the line. Of the roughly 3,500 built, only about ten are known to survive today.Collection
