Description

This medal is for members of the International Touring Superleggera Register. It is for people who tour their automobiles made with the Suggerleggera method. Superleggera, meaning “super light” in Italian, is a revolutionary coachbuilding technique developed and patented in 1936 by Felice Bianchi Anderloni of Carrozzeria Touring in Milan. The International Touring Superleggera Register was created in 1995 by the late Carlo Felice Bianchi Anderloni to preserve the heritage of Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, the famed Milanese coachbuilder founded in 1926 by Felice Bianchi Anderloni and Gaetano Ponzoni. The Register itself emerged decades later, after the original firm ceased operations in 1966, as enthusiasts and historians sought to document surviving cars and celebrate the artistry of Touring’s patented “superleggera” lightweight construction. It functions as a historical and owners’ club, cataloging vehicles, organizing events, and ensuring that the legacy of Touring’s designs—such as the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 and Aston Martin DB4—remains alive for collectors and the public.
