Title [assigned by archives]: Stained Glass Windows: The Life of Christ
The 14 stained glass windows in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word were installed upon the completion of the Chapel in 1907. Emil Frei Art Glass of St. Louis, Missouri created the windows. Mother Alphonse Brollier, CCVI (1858 – 1939) corresponded closely with the Frei company during the creation, shipment, and installation of the windows. The windows each depict a different scene in the life of Christ, as described in the Gospel of St. Luke. Starting at the northeast corner and moving along the north wall, the window sequence is as follows: the Annunciation, the birth of Jesus, the presentation in the Temple, the flight into Egypt, Jesus as a young boy, Jesus teaching in the Temple, the baptism of Jesus. Continuing on the south wall: Jesus with the little children, the anointing of Jesus’ feet, the Sermon on the Mount, the Passion of Jesus, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, the Ascension.
The windows were restored in 2007 by Cavallini Glass in San Antonio, Texas.
