Description

Title [assigned by archives]: Peacock Sister Kathleen Flanagan, CCVI (1933 – 2020) used both pen and acrylic paint to create this painting of a male peacock bearing its full plumage. The blue-bodied bird appears in profile, completely surrounded by its green feathers with blue and pink eyespots. Sister Kathleen used small black pen stroke to create a feathered effect. Sister Kathleen Flanagan, CCVI was born on July 21, 1933 in County Galway, Ireland. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 1956, took her first vows in 1959, and made her final profession in 1964. Sister Kathleen spent her early years in the Congregation serving as Housemother in orphanages across Texas. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education (1973) and M.A. in Religious Studies (1990) from Incarnate Word College. She served in elementary education and parish ministry for most of her career. Sister Kathleen passed away on December 10, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas.

Sor Kathleen Flanagan, CCVI, nació el 21 de julio de 1933 en el condado de Galway, Irlanda. Ingresó en la Congregación de las Hermanas de la Caridad del Verbo Encarnado en 1956, emitió sus primeros votos en 1959 y realizó su profesión perpetua en 1964. Pasó sus primeros años en la Congregación sirviendo como directora de orfanatos en todo Texas.
