Description

Title of artwork [assigned by archives]: The Annunciation This stained-glass window depicts the Annunciation, the moment in which the Archangel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bear Jesus. The Virgin kneels and bows with her hands crossed over her chest. Gabriel appears on a cloud and gestures upward to a white dove, the Holy Spirit, while looking down at Mary. The scene is bordered by a Gothic-revival band of geometric designs within an arched frame. Dr. Bernadette E. O’Connor donated this piece to the U.S. Ministry Council of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio (CCVI) in 2018. She purchased the window from a friend, who claimed that it came from a church bombed in London, England during World War II. The Cavallini Company restored and framed the window. ----------------- Título de la obra [asignado por los archivos]: La Anunciación Esta vidriera representa la Anunciación, el momento en el que el arcángel Gabriel anunció a María que daría a luz a Jesús. Adquirió la vidriera a un amigo, quien afirmaba que procedía de una iglesia bombardeada en Londres, Inglaterra, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
