Mahmood is a graduate of NCA in Lahore. He lives and works in United Arab Emirates. Mahmood layers historical information as he draws attention to current situations. In the first painting, the antique shotguns placed on faded English text is a direct reference to the violence perpetrated by British colonists on the local populace and a reminder of the continuing violence perpetrated on innocent people in the region. The lotus flower on the left is a symbol of rebirth, purity, regeneration and enlightenment.
