After leaving Bombay in the mid 1920s to take residence in Lahore, Bux continued to paint Hindu themes and landscapes, but he is most appreciated in post partition Pakistan for his large oil paintings of Punjabi village life. While clothing and attire is accurate, the props—girl reading, basket with fruit and drinking vessels—were likely learned when he painted backdrops for a drama company and tinted photographs in Bombay.
