Upon his return from months of seclusion at Gadani, Sadequain began to philosophize his cactus land experience. He once remarked “Cactus grows in the most hostile climates…yet it grows majestically. To me it symbolizes the triumph of life over the environment.” Sadequain’s cacti became people and his people became cacti. It was the beginning of his pictorial commitment to social-political commentary.
