The work is inspired by the famous verse by the poet Mirza Ghalib:
Bazeecha-e-Atfaal hey dunya meray agey,
Hota hey shab-o-roz tamasha meray agey
[The world is a children's playground before me
Night and day, this theatre is enacted before me]
Rassam’s work is a blend of words and images based on current narratives. In this work that is a plea to curb worldwide terrorism, he combines the image of newspapers and the figure of a woman and a child, the usual victims of the acts of extremism. Inspite of extensive press coverage, leaders seem to be indifferent to the suffering being inflicted.
