Description

The November 18, 1970 issue of the "Suburban Weekly" newspaper featuring coverage of the celebration of South River's 250tj anniversary. The headline reads "Time Capsule, Parade Mark South River's 250 Years." Five photographs accompany the headline: firemen pulling an antique pump along Main Street during the parade; Taryn Thomas, Queen of the Day, and her court; Paul Schack and members of the Steering Committee guiding the time capsule into place; members of the South River Police Department walking in the parade; and a view of the time capsule in its resting place. The other items on the front page are "South River Undefeated Pop Warner Champs" and "Title Tilt to be Aired." The latter article is about the Pop Warner Conference Championship to be played at Denny Stadium and aired on radio station WCTC. Measures 11-1/2" x 17".
