Description

Photograph of a group of nineteen people gathered in front of what was then the South River War Memorial Library located at 64-66 Main Street, South River. A small banner on the front of the building reads "Our 250th Anniversary, Our Loyalty to South River. Alert Flag and Banner Co. Call 201-641-0099." A row of bunting is strung across the front of the building with the right end hanging loose. From left to right, the group in the center of the image (beginning from the man to the immediate right of the leftmost flag) are: Borough Clerk William Reichenbach; Patrick Fulham; Anthony Zambrowski, Board of Education member; Joseph Mark; Amelia S. Applegate; ???; ???; ???; Mary Serafin; Rev. Joseph A. Kreshik, of Sts. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church; [may be Donn Gordon]; Woodis Booraem; Paul A. Schack; and Former Mayor Walter W. Schack. Some members of the group are wearing ribbons identifying them as members of the Steering Committee for the celebration of South River's 250th anniversary. The officers are (from left to right) Sgt. Richard Fulham, Walt "Blackie" Sudnikovich, Edward Bogdan, and Bob Barge. The man in the background with officer Bogdan is unidentified. A note printed in blue ink on the back of the photograph reads "Pictures #1 to #7 are Veteran's Day photos." This photograph is the first of the seven. Black and white photograph measures 5" x 7" and is in fair condition. It was the front photograph in an envelope of photographs that was water damaged. The lower left corner of the photograph has damage caused by water and part of the envelope has adhered to it. The middle of the photograph has a blue stain from the ink on back of the photograph bleeding through.
