Black and white photograph of the Causeway bridge being lifted by two large cranes to allow for the removal of gear from the mechanism damaged in October 1966. The view is from the Sayreville end of the bridge.
The back of the photograph has a handwritten note that reads, "South River - Bridges - Causeway." A date is also stamped in red, "Feb 6, 1967."
A similar photograph was used in a February 4, 1967 article in the Daily Home News with the caption, "Contact - View from down river as barge strikes underside of bridge." ["Drama on the Causeway Bridge," Daily Home News, Feb. 4, 1967, p. 1 & 6]. This photograph was taken from the opposite side of the bridge as the photograph in the newspaper.
