Scope and Content

Program for the opening ceremony held in the Council chambers in the Borough Hall on November 6, 1970 for the celebration of South River's 250th anniversary. The program included the following. Master of Ceremonies - Joseph G. Mark Invocation - Reverend Emil Varga, First Reformed Church Presentation of Municipal Flag to Borough of South River Pledge of Allegiance - Cub Scouts Welcome - Mayor Walter C. Kulik Introduction of Steering Committee Co-Chairmen - Attorney Walter W. Schack; Mrs. Mary Serafin Crowning of Celebration Queen, by Miss Eva C. Bissett - Queen of 200th Anniversary Presentation of Queen Taryn Thomas and her court - Lorraine Hode, Bertha Crawford, Dawn Matts, Natalia Chmura, Carol Ann Konopacki Presentation and Acknowledgements: Former Mayors - Borough of South River Address - Honorable Edward J. Patten, United States Congressman Benediction - Reverence Joseph Radomski, St. Mary's Church Reception - Blue Moon Restaurant, Main and Stephen Streets Pages 4 through 6 are the "Guest List - Borough of South River 250th Anniversary." The document is comprised of six pages each measuring 8 1/2" x 11" in poor condition due to water damage. The paper is warped and curled and the upper left corners have holes from a corroded staple.
