Scope and Content

Minutes from the September 11, 1970 meeting of the 250th Anniversary Committee. Present were members Joseph G. Mark, Amelia S. Applegate, Patrick Fulham, Walter W. Schack, Mary Serafin, Anthony Zambrowski, and representing the Home News Publishing Company, Jack Lutton and Don Gordon. Mayor Walter C. Kulik and Borough Clerk William A. Reichenbach, Jr. were also in attendance. Walter W. Schack was made Chair of the committee and Mary Serafin Co-chair. The dates for the celebration were set for November 7 through 11 with opening ceremonies to be held on November 6. The tentative schedule was set as follows. 11-7 Merchants Day ending with Block Dances 11-8 Religious Services and Band Concerts (note in blue ink, "Monday") 11-9 Antique Automobile Show (note in blue ink, "Sunday") 11-10 Baby Parades and Field Day 11-11 Grand Parade - burying of Time Capsule The idea of having "Lil Miss America," a local resident, was suggested, and a next meeting was set for September 18. A list of general committees were submitted: Program Committee - including the Invitation Committee Financial Committee Decorating Committee Baby Parade Committee - include Lil Miss America Field Day Committee - Athletic Committee Music Committee Refreshment Committee Reception Committee - include under Program Committee Religious Committee Merchants/Businessmen's Committee History Committee (note in blue ink, "Woodis") Publicity Committee Speakers Committee - include under Program Committee Civic/Fraternal Organizations Committee Grand Parade Committee Both pages have handwritten notes in blue ink. The minutes were submitted by Borough Clerk William A. Reichenbach, Jr. The date listed after his signature is "8/14th/1970." The two-pages of minutes are copies printed on paper measuring 8 1/2" x 14" and are in good condition. The upper left corner of each sheet has a mark from a corroded staple.
